All About CQC Audits – how DC Solutions can help

Could this be you...? (click to enlarge)How well would you do if the Care Quality Commission (CQC) did an unannounced inspection at your premises today? Would you score well in the audit? Or would you join the growing list of care providers with a mandatory improvement notice imposed by the CQC?

This is a real issue for all care providers. The old self-assessment regime has been replaced by rigorous inspections. If you don’t measure up, you can be given a mandatory ‘notice to improve’. At the extreme, you can be closed down, pending improvements.

DC Solutions can help you prepare for all CQC audits – click here to find out more.

Driving up standards

The Care Quality Commission will use audits to drive up standards throughout healthcare provision. From 2010 onwards, you will have to meet the standards they set – and this means being audited on a regular basis. Policies, procedures and practices will all be rigorously checked.

You will have to demonstrate that claims made under the self-assessment methods are true – so the CQC will want to check on everything you do. The better you score, the longer it will be before the next audit. Major deficiencies identified will have to be rectified within a fixed timescale.

Quality Improvement Tools (QIT)

QIT’s help you demonstrate your compliance with the legislation – because they are evidence-based, they provide a verifiable record of improvements made. If they are done regularly, they will help you pass audits, and help you drive up standards.

How DC Solutions can help you improve

We can carry out audits to show how you measure up, and identify areas that you need to improve. We can show you how to use QIT’s and make the clinical improvements necessary. Just as importantly, we can show you how to build up the evidence you will need to pass the CQC audit.

Because it’s not a case of ‘if’ you get audited – it’s a case of ‘when’.
