How we assess your training

We work really hard to make sure we fairly assess all training. We have to make sure that trainees properly understand the concepts and what they have to do. And they want to know that their work is being judged fairly and consistently.

What do I have to do to pass?

Your answers must be -

  • Sufficient – there has to be sufficient evidence that you have the underpinning knowledge
  • Up-to-date – answers must be in line with current policies and procedures
  • Genuine – it has to be your own work

Who does the assessing?

DC Solutions' accreditationThe answers are marked against the criteria agreed by the Open College Network for each individual course unit. A set standard is agreed by the company and the OCN, and the response to each task must meet the requirements of the criteria.

In the vast majority of cases this works fine – but if any trainee is not satisfied with the assessment, there is a full appeals procedure

Who checks the tutors?

To ensure that our tutors apply consistent standards across all courses, a percentage of every tutor's work is moderated by our Open College-approved moderators.

In addition, DC Solutions hold regular standardisation meetings with the tutors and moderators to ensure the assessment decisions are made consistently and appropriately throughout all levels and course topics.

Learning difficulties

Answers can be assessed according to the educational needs of particular students - for example, if there are literacy problems, a tutor can write the answers in, but they must be the student's own answers.

So a trainee has to demonstrate that they really understand a topic, and that they know what to do in their everyday job.
